Current MLA from Chabewal Constituency of Hoshiarpur District. Rajkumar Chabewal ji joined Aam Aadmi Party after being impressed by CM @BhagwantMann ji’s pro-people policies.
Welcome to Dr. Rajkumar ji on behalf of the entire party.

Raj Kumar Chabbewal resigned from INC and Legislative Assembly Punjab.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party in Punjab is set to suffer its third setback. Congress MLA Raj Kumar Chabbewal may leave the party and join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Chabbewal, who was elected twice from the Congress ticket, may be announced as the AAP candidate from Hoshiarpur in the upcoming assembly elections. Ten days ago, he had reached the assembly with a pot of debt for the AAP government.

These will be the third Congress leaders to leave the party before the Lok Sabha elections. Prior to this, Gurpreet G.P. and MP Preneet Kaur have also left the Congress. Gurpreet has already been announced as a candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib.

Currently, Dr Raj Kumar is an opposition MLA under Hoshiarpur and he joined the Congress in 2009. In 2017, he received the Congress ticket for the first time and won from Hoshiarpur. In the 2022 elections, he defeated AAP candidate Harminder Singh Sandhu by just 7,646 votes.

Chabbewal is a Dalit leader and has a significant vote share in his favor. In 2015, he was appointed as the chairman of the Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission by the Congress. He is also a member of the AICC.

Raj Kumar Chabbewal is likely to join Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today at his official residence.

He is likely to be AAP face from Hoshiarpur in coming Lok Sabha polls.

He had contested the parliamentary elections from Hoshiarpur on a Congress ticket in 2019 but had lost to the BJP’s Som Prakash.

He is likely to join at Chandigarh. It is a big setback for the Congress.

After former MLA GP Singh from Bassi Pathana and Preneet Kaur, he is the third Congress leader to join AAP.

Reports suggest that the AAP is trying to poach another Congress leader for the Gurdaspur seat.
