New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Tim David expressed his excitement about rejoining Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and hopes to make memorable moments with the team.
David, who was born in Singapore and raised in Australia, was acquired by RCB for Rs 3 crore during the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah. He began his IPL journey with RCB in 2021 before moving to Mumbai Indians the following year.
“I’m really looking forward to playing for RCB this season. I’ve reconnected with some friends and worked with some of the coaching staff before. The ground is fantastic, especially for power hitters, so I’m hoping to create some exciting memories there,” David told IANS.
At 28, the explosive batsman has dedicated his career to T20 cricket and has played for numerous franchises globally, including MI Emirates, MI New York, MI Cape Town, Hobart Hurricanes, Lahore Qalandars, and more.
Reflecting on his experiences in international T20 leagues, he noted, “Many players are involved in various franchise tournaments now, but I’ve played in quite a few. The key is how you collaborate with your teammates. When you join a new team, you face new teammates, coaching staff, and different playing conditions, so figuring out an effective way to score runs in those environments is crucial.”
David is one of the most sought-after players in international T20 leagues, having scored 4,872 runs in 254 matches at a strike rate of 159.79. In the IPL, he has accumulated 659 runs at a strike rate exceeding 170.
Currently playing for the Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10, he shared his perspective on the finisher’s role in T10 cricket: “In T10, the goal is to score runs as quickly as possible. The game wraps up faster with fewer overs, so it’s a good way to refine your approach to the format.”
Having made his Australian debut against India in Mohali, where he scored 54 off 27 balls in just his third match, David revealed his upcoming plans: “I’ll be heading back home to play in the Big Bash League for Hobart. It’s great to get some games in and find my rhythm before the Big Bash.”
“I’m focused on what’s next. I have a game tonight, and we’re aiming to advance in the T10 finals before seeing what comes after that,” he concluded.
