Trinamool Congress leader found dead at a hotel in Bengal’s Mandarmani

Kolkata: A Trinamool Congress leader, Abul Nasar, was found dead in a hotel at the Mandarmani sea resort in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district on Saturday morning, creating tension in the area. The 34-year-old, who was a prominent figure in Amdanga, North 24 Parganas, was discovered hanging in his hotel room by a staff member. At the time, he was alone, and the woman who accompanied him was missing.

Police have detained this woman for questioning as part of their investigation. Nasar’s wife, who serves as a deputy panchayat chief for the Trinamool party, has claimed that his death was a murder, prompting the Mandarmani Coastal Police Station to launch an inquiry.

The hotel staff alerted the local police, who arrived, recovered the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. While authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and initially suspect suicide, they will wait for the autopsy results to reach a conclusion. Local Trinamool leaders have dismissed any political implications surrounding Nasar’s death, stating that he was an active member of the party and that his passing is a significant loss for the local organization.
