Two dead, 4 injured in house fire in Shahdara

Delhi: According to Prashant Gautam, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Shahdara, the fire was limited to the third-floor apartment of the building. Firefighters quickly acted to control the blaze and successfully rescued two children from the flaming residence.

Tragically, two family members, 42-year-old Shilpi Gupta and her 16-year-old son Pranav Gupta, were discovered deceased inside the apartment. Their bodies were severely burned, and authorities believe they succumbed to asphyxiation from smoke inhalation, as stated by the DCP.

Additionally, four other family members sustained injuries in the incident and were promptly taken to GTB Hospital for medical care. The injured individuals include 72-year-old Kailash Gupta, his 70-year-old wife Bhagwati Gupta, their 45-year-old son Manish Gupta, and Manish’s 19-year-old son Parth Gupta. All are currently receiving treatment, according to police sources.

A forensic team has been called in to investigate and establish the precise cause of the fire, the DCP reported.
