Two students wounded, gunman dead after shooting at California school

California: Two students were injured and the suspected gunman is deceased following a shooting at Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo, Northern California, according to authorities.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to an active shooting incident at the school on Wednesday. Students were evacuated to a nearby church, where parents were instructed to reunite with their children.

Around 1 p.m. local time, multiple 911 calls alerted the Sheriff’s Office about an adult male firing at students, as reported by KRCR-TV and Xinhua news agency.

Authorities quickly arrived on the scene and found the shooter, who apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Two students were shot, with one being airlifted to a local hospital.

Feather River School, affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade and has over 30 enrolled. Palermo, where the incident occurred, has a population of more than 5,000 and is located approximately 104 km north of Sacramento, California’s state capital.
