Union Budget: Middle class seeks tax relief, youth hope for jobs from Finance Minister

New Delhi: As the Union Budget for 2025-26 approaches, many Indians are looking forward to policy announcements that could alleviate income tax burdens, address farmers’ concerns, and create more job opportunities. A resident from Siliguri, West Bengal, expressed that the middle class needs attention, stating, “We expect the middle class to be taken care of, as they often go overlooked.” Dharmendra Verma from Uttar Pradesh emphasized the need for tax slab relaxation to enhance the economy and purchasing power, asking for “concrete” measures for the middle class.

In Hyderabad, a local voiced hopes for the government to tackle unemployment, saying, “We expect a significant boost for the poor and middle class, especially as the salaried middle class faces tax challenges. I hope this budget will be exceptional.” Suryaprakash from Ayodhya shared a positive outlook for the youth, wishing for beneficial schemes in the budget. Another Ayodhya resident expressed a desire for relief from excise duty on gold, highlighting concerns about job creation, inflation reduction, women’s safety, and maintaining stable tax rates on essential goods.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present her eighth consecutive budget today, having arrived at the North Block, the Finance Ministry’s headquarters, earlier this morning. The budget speech will detail the government’s fiscal strategies, revenue and expenditure plans, taxation reforms, and other important announcements. Meanwhile, the Economic Survey presented in Parliament projected India’s economic growth to be between 6.3% and 6.8% for the upcoming financial year.
