Uttar Pradesh: 12.5 kg of gold recovered during checking at Yamuna Expressway

Mathura: The Mathura Police discovered 12.5 kilograms of gold during a routine check on the Yamuna Expressway, officials reported. The recovery took place on Tuesday when the police stopped a vehicle for inspection at the Mant toll. Superintendent of Police (SP) Trigun Vishen informed ANI that the gold was allegedly being transported from Delhi to Deoria by the occupants of the car, who were unable to present any documentation. Consequently, the GST and Income Tax departments have been notified, and action is underway. Two individuals were arrested, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Bihar.

In a separate incident, a substantial amount of illegal firecrackers was confiscated in two raids conducted in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in preparation for Diwali, according to police on Tuesday. The first raid, executed by the Indirapuram police in Makanpur village, resulted in the seizure of63 cartons of illegal firecrackers and one plastic bag. A 26-year-old man named Majid, a resident of Sector 12, Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, was arrested for allegedly selling and supplying these firecrackers. A case has been registered against him, and the investigation is ongoing.

In another operation, police raided a kite shop in the Delhi Gate area of Ghaziabad following complaints about the illegal sale and distribution of firecrackers. According to officials, a significant quantity of firecrackers was recovered during the operation, but the shopkeeper managed to escape prior to the police’s arrival. ACP Ritesh Tripathi mentioned that efforts are being made to apprehend the shopkeeper.
