The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government seeking a response on a petition filed by dismissed DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu challenging the FIR and his nomination in the case of Lawrence Bishnoi’s custodial interview.
In his petition, Sandhu claims that he has been made a scapegoat in this entire matter so that senior officers can escape responsibility. He stated that the action taken against him in the interview broadcast is unilateral and unfair.
DSP Sandhu has requested the court to quash the FIR and disciplinary action against him because the legal process was not followed and he was implicated without concrete evidence.
The petitioner stated that the principles of natural justice were not followed in this case. The petitioner has appealed to the High Court to quash the FIR and the action being taken against him.
After hearing the petitioner’s arguments, the High Court directed the state government to file a response in the matter.
