Ladakh: Earthquake of magnitude 3.5 strikes Leh

Leh, Ladakh: An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 struck Ladakh’s capital Leh early Monday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The tremor occurred at a depth of 120 km at 8:25 AM Indian Standard Time (IST), the NCS said in a post on X.

According to the seismic monitoring agency, the earthquake was recorded at latitude 36.700 N and longitude 74.343 E, with Leh in Ladakh listed as the location.

Chamba records magnitude 3.0 earthquake

Hours before the Leh earthquake, Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district was hit by a mild earthquake measuring 3.0 magnitude at 3:40 AM on Monday.

The NCS said the Chamba tremor occurred at a depth of 8 km and was recorded at latitude 32.925 N and longitude 76.145 E.

Leh region records 4.6 magnitude quake

Earlier, an earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck the Leh region on Sunday.

According to the NCS, the tremor was recorded at a depth of 150 km at 3:34 PM IST.

The earthquake was recorded at latitude 36.736 N and longitude 74.372 E, with the location identified as Leh, Ladakh.
