The number of officials and employees in Haryana’s government offices who habitually refuse to work without a bribe has reached 190. The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) headquarters has prepared a list of these individuals and instructed local units across all districts to initiate action against them.
ACB Chief Arshinder Singh Chawla stated that a crackdown on the officials and employees named in the list will commence. The ACB compiled this comprehensive list following six months of covert surveillance, complaint analysis, and intelligence gathering.
The list was prepared in two phases: 140 names were included on July 20, and another 50 were added on August 5. ACB teams identified these officials and employees after receiving persistent complaints that they refuse to perform their duties without accepting bribes.
Highest Number of Complaints from the Revenue Department
ACB investigations revealed the highest number of corruption complaints originating from the Revenue Department, with approximately 37 of its officials and employees included in the list. The Police Department ranks second, with 22 officers and personnel identified. This is followed by the Health Department, with about 14 officials and employees listed.
Corruption Prevalent Across These Departments
The departments involved include the Revenue Department, Police Department, Health Department, Urban Local Bodies, Food and Consumer Affairs Department, Electricity Department, Excise and Taxation Department, Transport Department, Haryana Urban Development Authority, Panchayati Raj, Labour Department, Treasury and Accounts, Education Department, Forest Department, Food Corporation, Pollution Control Board, Irrigation Department, and the Judicial Department.
