Lucknow witnessed rain accompanied by thunder and lightning early Thursday morning. Strong winds swept through the city during this period. As the weather deteriorated around 4:30 AM, the power supply was disrupted in several localities. Since morning, dark clouds have loomed overhead, and the sun has remained hidden. The Meteorological Department forecasts that the maximum temperature today will be recorded at 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be 23 degrees.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.3 degrees—6.4 degrees below normal. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature stood at 21 degrees—3.3 degrees below normal. Humidity levels were recorded at a maximum of 74 per cent and a minimum of 45 percent.
Winds Gusting at 40-60 km/h
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for storms and rain, accompanied by winds gusting at speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour. Thunder and lightning are also expected to occur during this period. Today, the maximum humidity level is projected to reach up to 80 percent, while the minimum humidity is expected to be recorded at 40 percent.
Commuters Face Inconvenience; Tent Collapses
The rain, which began in the early hours of the morning, continued well past daybreak. This caused significant inconvenience to people heading out for work. Commuters stepping out for other essential tasks also faced difficulties; while some ventured out carrying umbrellas, others made their way by shielding themselves under promotional banners. Near Hanuman Setu, a tent erected for an event collapsed under the force of the wind gusts.
