Car Catches Fire After Crashing Into Divider on Ludhiana–Barnala Road

Barnala: A road accident occurred around 7:45 PM on Saturday in the town of Mahal Kalan, situated on the main Ludhiana-Barnala highway. A Duster car, traveling from Ludhiana towards Barnala, suddenly went out of control and crashed into the road divider. The impact was so severe that the car immediately burst into flames, and within moments, the entire vehicle was reduced to ashes.

Family Escapes Safely

Fortunately, the family members traveling in the car managed to exit in time, ensuring that there was no loss of life. Kulwinder Singh Dhaliwal, In-charge of the Mahal Kalan Police Station, and ASI Balkaur Singh stated that the car was being driven by Amit Kumar, a resident of Janakpuri, Ludhiana. He was on his way to Barnala to drop off his relatives.

Police say accident caused by loss of control

According to police officials, the accident occurred when the car reached the area in front of Malwa College in Mahal Kalan, after suddenly losing its balance. Immediately following the collision, smoke began billowing from the vehicle, and as soon as the occupants disembarked, the car was engulfed in a massive fire. The towering flames and thick black smoke created an atmosphere of panic on the highway, drawing a crowd of onlookers and passersby.

Local residents immediately alerted the police and the fire brigade. Upon receiving the information, a police team—assisted by the fire brigade and passersby—successfully brought the fire under control. The accident caused a temporary disruption to traffic on the main Ludhiana-Barnala highway, which the police promptly restored. The police have initiated further proceedings regarding the incident.
