Ludhiana: Two people were seriously injured after a man allegedly drove his car over them repeatedly in Ludhiana on Sunday. The incident took place at Pamma Market in Guru Nanak Nagar. A video showing the car moving back and forth over people lying on the road has surfaced.
The accused has been identified as Dalveer Singh alias Kaka, a resident of Lohara village. According to the victims’ family, he is the former son-in-law of Jassi, a woman working as a bouncer.
Jassi was waiting for an auto-rickshaw to go to work when the accused allegedly arrived and attacked her. During the incident, he drove his car towards people standing nearby and hit two of them. Both suffered serious injuries.
Car Reverses Over Victims Three Times
The video shows a crowd gathered at the market when the car suddenly moves back and forth. One person can be seen lying on the road near a motorcycle as the vehicle reverses over them and then moves forward again.
The driver then turns towards another person lying on the road and runs over them as well.
Bystanders try to stop the car and help the injured. Some people throw stones at the vehicle, but the driver manages to escape at high speed.
Woman Alleges Assault and Broken Finger
Jassi alleged that Dalveer twisted her arms during the attack and broke one of her fingers. She also claimed that he threatened her with weapons.
Her daughter Kamalpreet Kaur tried to intervene and protect her mother. She was allegedly abused and assaulted by Dalveer.
Kamalpreet and Dalveer are divorced. She alleged that he had previously threatened to kill her and her eight-year-old son. The family says they have faced repeated harassment from him.
Family Seeks Police Action
Kamalpreet also alleged that Dalveer is involved in selling ‘chitta’, a term commonly used for heroin in Punjab. She said a murder case had previously been registered against him and that he was currently out on bail.
Jassi claimed she called the Daba police station several times during the incident but received no response.
The family said they reached Civil Hospital at around 5 pm with their injuries but were referred to another hospital without a medical examination. They have demanded strict action against the accused.
The allegations are yet to be independently established. Further details about the police investigation and the action taken in the case were not available in the information provided.
