Ludhiana Woman SHO Accuses Sub-Inspector of Rape, Cheating; FIR Registered

Ludhiana: A serving woman police officer posted as a Station House Officer (SHO) in Ludhiana has accused a Sub-Inspector of rape, cheating and physical abuse, following which an FIR has been registered and the accused officer has been suspended pending investigation.

The complaint was filed against Sub-Inspector Sahibmeet Singh, after which Ludhiana Rural Police registered a case at Dakha Police Station. The accused officer has been attached to the police lines as part of departmental action.

Woman officer alleges rape after meeting accused

According to the complaint, the woman officer alleged that she had known the accused for several years and that their friendship later developed into a relationship.

She claimed that during a meeting in Mullanpur Dakha, the accused allegedly offered her a cold drink mixed with an intoxicating substance. She alleged that after consuming it, she lost consciousness and was sexually assaulted.

The complainant further alleged that the accused later assured her of marriage but eventually backed out of the promise and started avoiding her.

FIR registered against Sub-Inspector

Following the complaint, Ludhiana Rural Police registered an FIR against Sahibmeet Singh at Dakha Police Station.

Ludhiana Rural SSP Ankur Gupta confirmed that the case was registered and said the accused officer has been suspended with immediate effect and attached to the police lines pending investigation.

Investigation underway

Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations and are examining all aspects of the complaint. Further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the probe.

The accused officer has not been convicted, and the allegations against him are currently under investigation.
