On Friday, a team from the Karnal Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap outside the Tohana City Police Station and arrested a middleman red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The accused has been identified as Kritpal, a resident of Kalar Bhaini village in the Uklana area.
Details of the Case
On December 11, 2025, the Tohana police had apprehended an individual with 7 grams of heroin; Jagjit Singh, a resident of Bithmada, was also named as an accused in the case. The middleman, Kritpal, had struck a deal with Jagjit to get his name removed from the NDPS case in exchange for ₹5 lakh.
₹4.5 Lakh Already Paid
According to the complainant, Jagjit, the middleman had already collected ₹4.5 lakh from him, and the remaining ₹50,000 was demanded on Friday outside the Tohana police station.
Entrapment Using Chemical-Coated Notes
Acting on Jagjit’s complaint, a team led by ACB In-charge Arvind Kumar treated currency notes worth ₹50,000 with a chemical and handed them to the complainant. As soon as the middleman, Kritpal, accepted the money, the ACB team apprehended him red-handed.
Questioning and Search of the Station House Officer (SHO)
During interrogation, the middleman claimed that the money was being collected on behalf of the Tohana City Station House Officer (SHO), Kuldeep Singh. The ACB questioned SHO Kuldeep Singh and conducted a thorough search of his office and official vehicle. No cash was recovered from the SHO. After the investigation found no substance to the allegations, the SHO was released around 1:00 AM.
