The accused in the brutal murder of a 19-year-old woman in Sarkaghat, Mandi, will be produced in court today. The police are expected to seek his remand to conduct an interrogation. The police had arrested the accused yesterday, within just three hours of the murder, in the Gopalpur area of Sarkaghat.
Arrested the accused, in Drug addict
The police investigation conducted so far has not revealed any concrete motive behind the murder. It is reported that the accused, Vikas Patial (36), is a drug addict. Acting in a drug-induced frenzy, he inflicted seven to eight wounds on the left side of 19-year-old Siya Guleria’s neck. Her neck was nearly severed from her torso. During the attack, the young woman’s left hand was also slashed; it is believed that she sustained this injury while attempting to defend herself.
MP Kangana slammed the state govt
Kangana Ranaut, the Member of Parliament from Mandi, took a jibe at the state government regarding the brutal murder of Siya Guleria. Writing on her social media handle, Kangana stated that law and order in the state have completely collapsed. She remarked that the laxity of the administration is clearly evident, causing young women who step out of their homes to pursue their education to no longer feel safe.
Minister Vikramaditya to meet family
Meanwhile, the state’s Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, is scheduled to visit the victim’s family today. He personally shared this information on social media. The Deputy Chief Minister also expressed his condolences regarding the young woman’s murder through a post on social media.
