Imphal: The bodies of two missing youths from Kuki community were recovered from the area after several search operations carried out by joint teams of Manipur police, CRPF and Assam Rifles after they went missing on October 28, officials said.
Search Operations Launched After Two Youths Went Missing
Several search operations were undertaken by joint teams of Manipur police, CRPF, CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Assam Rifles after the two persons went missing from Taphou Kuki village under Kangpokpi district on October 28, a Manipur police official said. On Sunday, a massive search operation was undertaken by joint teams of Manipur police and central security forces from around the area near to Imphal Dimapur National Highway (NH-2). During the operation two bodies were recovered from the area. The police are doing the required legal procedures, he added.

Meanwhile, the massive search and combing operation will be undertaken to identify the culprits.
Four-Day Bandh Affects Traffic on NH-2
A four-day bandh imposed by Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) in Kangpokpi district protested over the alleged kidnapping of the two youths affected the movement of vehicles on Imphal Dimapur National Highway (NH-2) till Saturday.
The bandh started from 5 pm on Thursday. The shops, markets and other business activities were closed. COTU had accused the two youths abducted by ‘Naga militants’.
Deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen Condemns Alleged Kidnapping
Earlier, Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen appealed to concerned authorities to do their best to trace and rescue the missing Kuki youths. “I express my strong condemnation over the alleged kidnap of two youths from around Taphou Kuki village,” she said in a statement. “The two men – Tinginlun Chongloi (21) and Paoginlal Hangshing (20) were allegedly kidnapped by unidentified miscreants.”
