In Ludhiana, a minor girl was raped by a young man residing in her own colony, who lured her with a false promise of marriage. When the minor became pregnant, he refused to marry her. The minor subsequently gave birth to a child, but the accused is now refusing to marry her. On Thursday (May 7), the police at Sarabha Nagar Police Station registered a case against the accused.
While providing information to the police, the 16-year-old victim, identified as Gursimran (a fictitious name), stated that discussions were underway regarding her mother, Harman Kaur (a fictitious name), marrying Jeevanjot Singh Dhaliwal. The victim and her family had been residing in a housing society in the BRRS area for the past year.
The Accused Established Physical Relations in June 2025
According to the victim, she was friends with Jeevanjot Singh’s younger brother, Gaganjot Singh. In June 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, Gaganjot Singh came to her home and, under the pretext of marriage, forced himself upon her. She subsequently became pregnant and gave birth to a child on May 4, 2026.
Raids Conducted to Arrest the Accused
The victim alleges that the accused has now reneged on his promise of marriage. Acting on the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused, Gaganjot Singh, and are currently conducting raids to effect his arrest.
