Amidst the ongoing management dispute at the Miri-Piri Medical Institute in Shahabad, the SGPC and the HSGPC could face off again today; consequently, the administration is on high alert, and a heavy police force has been deployed at the institute.

SGPC and Institute Trust Chairman Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami have arrived at the institute to hold a meeting with the board regarding management issues, after which a major decision may be taken.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (HSGPC) has also convened an executive committee meeting at the institute, which President Jathedar Jagdish Singh Jhinda is expected to attend alongside other members. Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has already arrived and has begun by inspecting the institute and assessing the current situation.

A legal battle is running parallel to the management dispute. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled in favor of the Haryana Committee regarding the institute’s management; while the Haryana Committee claimed control over the management on July 27, the SGPC has filed a fresh petition in the High Court, for which the initial hearing has already taken place.

Additionally, the High Court has issued a stay order regarding the board of doctors constituted by the Haryana Committee for the institute. Amidst this dispute, the salaries of the institute’s doctors and other staff members had been held up for four months; however, the SGPC released one month’s salary yesterday. All eyes are now fixed on the decisions to be taken by both parties today.
