Bathinda: A woman and her teenage son were killed after the roof of their house collapsed in Talwandi Sabo town of Punjab’s Bathinda district late on Monday night. Two daughters of the family sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bathinda.
According to information, the family of Dharam Singh alias Kala, an employee with the Sewerage Department of the Talwandi Sabo Municipal Council, was asleep inside their room when the tragedy occurred.
Roof Collapses While Family Was Asleep
The incident took place at around 11 p.m. when the roof of the house suddenly caved in, trapping the family under the debris.
Dharam Singh’s wife, Veerpal Kaur (40), and their 14-year-old son, Arshdeep Singh, died on the spot.
The couple’s two daughters, Sanampreet Kaur and Khushpreet Kaur, suffered critical injuries and were rushed to AIIMS Bathinda, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Town Mourns the Tragic Incident
The incident has sent shockwaves across Talwandi Sabo.
Municipal Council President Kulveer Kaur Saran, along with local residents, expressed deep grief over the tragedy and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the town as residents mourn the loss of the mother and son.
