‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’: An Effort to Make Healthcare Accessible to the People of Punjab

The Punjab government is taking several initiatives to improve access to healthcare and make health services more convenient for people across the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Department of Health and Family Welfare is taking steps towards implementing the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’ (MMSY).

As part of the implementation process, a government tender has also been issued in 2026 for the development and implementation of a Unified Service Portal for the scheme.

What is the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’?

The Chief Minister’s Health Scheme aims to make healthcare services more accessible to the people of Punjab. The Punjab State Health Agency is working on the development of a Unified Service Portal to facilitate the implementation of the scheme.

The scheme is referred to as MMSY in government documents. However, details regarding eligibility, covered treatments, empanelled hospitals and the extent of financial assistance are subject to the latest government notifications and official guidelines.

Focus on Strengthening Punjab’s Healthcare Infrastructure

The Punjab government is already providing healthcare services through government hospitals, Aam Aadmi Clinics and other health facilities across the state.

According to data available through the government’s Health Management Information System (HMIS), Punjab currently has 227 secondary health institutions, 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics, 2,511 Health and Wellness Centres and 159 AYUSH Aam Aadmi Clinics.

The government is also working towards greater digitisation of healthcare services, including medicine availability, medical equipment management, patient registration and hospital administration. The HMIS platform is being used to manage electronic health records and other digital healthcare services.

Aam Aadmi Clinics Expand Primary Healthcare Access

Aam Aadmi Clinics are an important component of Punjab’s healthcare delivery model. The clinics are intended to provide basic healthcare services closer to people’s homes and communities.
According to government data, 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics are currently operational across the state, providing residents with access to primary healthcare services at the local level.

‘CM Di Yogshala’ Also Part of Health and Wellness Initiatives

The Punjab government’s ‘CM Di Yogshala’ is another initiative focused on health and wellness. According to the government portal, the programme provides people with access to certified yoga instructors for free yoga classes in their local areas.

The initiative promotes yoga and meditation as part of everyday life, with the broader objective of encouraging healthier lifestyles and preventive wellness.

Focus on Accessible and Digitised Healthcare

Alongside the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, the Punjab government is working to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure and expand digital health services.
However, details such as who will be eligible under MMSY, which treatments and hospitals will be covered, and the amount of financial assistance available should be verified through the latest government notification and the scheme’s official portal, as the process of implementing the Unified Service Portal is underway in 2026.

Through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, Aam Aadmi Clinics, digital healthcare services and CM Di Yogshala, the Punjab government is seeking to bring healthcare and wellness services closer to people. Government records indicate that the state’s healthcare network extends from hospitals and secondary health institutions to community-level health centres.
