Mumbai: On Tuesday evening, Mumbai Metro services on the Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova line were temporarily disrupted during peak hours after a plastic sheet fell onto the overhead wire near Versova station, an official reported. Passengers expressed their concerns over the incident.
The plastic sheet, which was blown from a nearby construction site, was eventually removed, allowing train services to resume after some time, according to a Mumbai Metro One spokesperson.
This incident marked the second time during the monsoon season that Metro One services were affected by a falling sheet on the overhead wire. The first such incident occurred near Azad Nagar station on June 16.
The disruption happened around 7 p.m., leading to crowded stations and heavy rush at Andheri station, where passengers hurried to catch trains to Ghatkopar. The Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova corridor, spanning 11.8 km, is one of Mumbai’s busiest metro routes in the city’s urban transport network.
