Naresh Meena's House Raided in Rajasthan Forest Office Attack Case

Jaipur: Rajasthan Police carried out a raid at the ancestral house of farmers’ leader and Bhagat Singh Sena chief Naresh Meena at Nayagaon on Tuesday amid an intensifying search operation to nab him in connection with alleged attack on the Forest Department range office in Nahargarh town of Baran district.

However, Meena was not found at the house and the police party returned empty-handed. But Meena tweeted that he would surrender at the Nahargarh Police Station on November 6 at 5 pm.

So far, four accused have been arrested by the police and more raids have been carried out to locate the rest.

Police Team Carry Out Early Morning Raid

A special team was formed under the supervision of the Baran Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu. The team comprised Atru Circle Officer Ramanand Yadav, Mothpur SHO Kamal Singh, Baran Sadar SHO Nawalkishore Meena and members of the District Special Team (DST).

The team went to Meena’s ancestral house in Nayagaon early in the morning of Tuesday, but he was not found.

Police are trying to track down and arrest those responsible for allegedly damaging government property, hindering officials and threatening forest staff.

Naresh Meena Announces Surrender On November 6

After the raid, Meena tweeted that police had come to his house at around 5 am to arrest him. He said he would surrender at the Nahargarh Police Station on November 6.

He also called on Rajasthan’s electorate to reject the Congress and BJP and back the Third Front. He urged them to back the BSP (elephant) RLP (bottle), strong Independent candidates and Left candidates in Sikar.

This comes amid increased political activity in Rajasthan as Panchayati Raj elections are currently taking place.

What Happened At The Nahargarh Forest Office?

On November 1, Pradeep Singh Rathore, in charge of the Nahargarh forest check-post, along with a forest guard and others seized the generator allegedly being used for an illegal tubewell on forest land in Jhiri Tapra.

The generator was taken to the Forest Department range office. However, Meena arrived at the office with hundreds of supporters and allegedly threatened to set the building alight and attacked forest staff.

The group ripped badges and name plates off the uniforms of forest staff, damaged government property and official paperwork, including the seizure panchnama. They then drove away with the seized generator in a mini transport vehicle.

This prompted a police investigation into the alleged attack.

Four Arrested, Others Being Sought

Nahargarh SHO Vivek Harsana said four people were arrested on Monday and produced in court. They have since been jailed.

Those arrested have been named as Jitendra Nagar (36) from Nahargarh, Devendra Kushwaha (22) from Balapura, Pappu Bhil (25) from Lakdai and Murari Gurjar (20) from Murari.

Police said they are continuing to try to arrest the remaining accused, including Meena who has announced he will surrender on November 6.
