25-year-old shot dead by 4 men in UP's Aligarh; assault caught on CCTV

Aligarh: A 25-year-old man, Haris, was shot dead by four bike-borne assailants in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in a cold-blooded execution caught on CCTV. The incident took place early Friday morning in Telipada, Roravar, just as Haris was about to have ‘sehri’ (pre-dawn meal) during Ramzan.

According to police, Haris had returned home after playing cricket and was standing outside his house when the attackers opened fire. The CCTV footage shows Haris turning around in surprise as a pillion rider on a motorcycle aims a gun at him. Despite trying to shield himself, the first shot is fired while the motorcycle is still moving, and Haris stumbles. The assailant fires two more shots, causing Haris to collapse.

The shooter then dismounts and fires another bullet into Haris before getting back on the bike. A second assailant steps off another motorcycle, attempts to fire again but realizes the gun isn’t cocked, quickly adjusts it, and shoots three more times into Haris before fleeing with the others. The attackers fired over half a dozen shots, ensuring Haris had no chance of survival. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

The police quickly launched an investigation after being informed around 3:30 am. Haris’s body was sent for post-mortem, and a forensic team gathered evidence from the scene. Authorities are using the CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mayank Pathak, stated that initial findings point to personal enmity as a possible motive for the attack, though they are exploring all leads. Authorities are questioning Haris’s family to uncover the exact reason behind the murder.
