New Delhi, July 19: The Aadhaar card is an important document in our country. It contains many information like your name, mobile number, gender and address. If there is a change in these things, it is necessary to update it in Aadhaar.
However, there is a fixed limit for making any changes in the Aadhaar card. For example, you can update your name in the Aadhaar card only twice. We are telling you which details can be updated in Aadhaar and how many times.
You can change your name 2 times and date of birth only 1 time
You can update or change your name in Aadhaar only twice. For this, you will have to provide the correct documents, such as marriage certificate, passport, PAN card, voter ID or any other valid identity card.
As far as the date of birth is concerned, you can change it only once. On the other hand, if we talk about the address, you can update it as many times as you want. You can also update the address yourself through the official website of UIDAI.
There is no limit on changing mobile number or email
There is no specific limit for changing the mobile number and email ID. You can update your mobile number or email ID by visiting the Aadhaar Seva Kendra whenever you want. No documents are required for this. But keep in mind, your registered mobile number is very important because the OTP for online update comes on it.
Similarly, there is no limit on changing the photo on the Aadhaar card, but it can be changed only at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. A fee of Rs 50 will be charged for this. There is no option to update the photo online.
Gender can also be updated
If you want to change your gender, then there is a one-time facility for this as well. You can change it once.
What should I do to make changes more than the limit?
If you want to change the name, date of birth and gender multiple times, then it is possible. But this will happen only in case of an exceptional situation. For this, you will have to go to the Aadhaar regional office again.
Contact the regional office of Aadhaar
In such a situation, first you will have to email the regional office of Aadhaar or [email protected]. Then you will have to explain the reason why you want to do this. After this, you will have to provide the related details and proof. The regional office of Aadhaar will do its due diligence. If it feels that your appeal is correct, then the regional office will approve it. If your appeal is not found correct, then it will not be approved.
Correct mobile number must be updated
If your correct mobile number is not updated in the Aadhaar card, then first you have to go to the Aadhaar card center to get it updated. If the mobile number is updated then you can make some changes online. You can easily update your mobile number by going to the Aadhaar center.
You have to pay a small charge for this. For example, you have to pay Rs 100 for biometric update while Rs 50 will have to be paid for demographic update. However, the government is not charging any fee for updating Aadhaar online till June 14, 2026.
