AAP final list of 38 names in Delhi: Kejriwal, CM Atishi retain seats

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its final and fourth list of 38 candidates, confirming that Chief Minister Atishi will run from the Kalkaji constituency and Arvind Kejriwal will contest from New Delhi. The party has largely retained its sitting Cabinet ministers.

Notably, Naresh Balyan, the controversial legislator from Uttam Nagar who was arrested in an alleged extortion case, has been replaced by his wife, Pooja Naresh Balyan.

Another unexpected addition is Ramesh Pahelwan from Kasturba Nagar, who takes over from three-time incumbent Madan Lal. Pahelwan rejoined the party just hours before the candidate list was released, having left it in 2013.

The party continues to support Mehrauli legislator Naresh Yadav, despite facing criticism from opposition parties following his conviction in a Quran sacrilege case in Punjab.

The list, shared by party National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak, reflects AAP’s confidence in the performance of many sitting legislators who have been given tickets for the upcoming elections for a 70-member Assembly.

Key candidates include Minister Gopal Rai from Babarpur, Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash, and Okhla legislator Amanatullah Khan, who is also contesting despite being involved in a Waqf Board irregularities case. Former Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain, who spent nearly a year in jail for a money laundering case, will run from Shakur Basti.

Vinay Mishra, son of former MP Mahabal Mishra, will again contest from Dwarka, while former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti will seek re-election from Malviya Nagar.

Other notable candidates include Sanjeev Jha from Burari, Ajesh Yadav from Badli, Mohinder Goyal from Rithala, Jai Bhagwan from Bawana, Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat from Sultan Pur Majra, Raghuvinder Shokeen from Nangloi Jat, Bandana Kumari from Shalimar Bagh, Preeti Tomar from Tri Nagar, Rajesh Gupta from Wazirpur, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi from Model Town, Som Dutt from Sadar Bazar, Shoaib Iqbal from Matia Mahal, and Imran Hussain from Ballimaran.
