Amid flood fury, Rahul Gandhi to visit Assam-Manipur

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi left for Manipur and Assam tour on July 8. During this, he will meet the violence and flood-affected people in different districts of both states. According to Manipur Congress President K. Meghchandra, Rahul will first go to Silchar from Delhi and then to Jiribam district.

This will be Rahul’s third visit to Manipur after the violence started in May 2023. Rahul started the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Thoubal in Manipur in January 2024.

Rahul to visit relief camps

According to reports, Rahul Gandhi will visit the relief camps set up in Moirang and Churachandpur. He will meet the victims here and inquire about their well-being. According to the state Congress, Rahul can also visit some other districts of the state and meet the violence-affected families.

During the Assam visit, Rahul will stop at Kumbhigram Airport in Silchar, Cachar district. From here he will go to the flood relief camp in Lakhipur and interact with the people taking shelter there. This camp is on the route from where Rahul Gandhi will reach Jiribam district of Manipur.

About 22.70 lakh people from 28 districts have been affected by the floods in Assam. So far, a total of 78 deaths have occurred in the state due to floods, landslides, and storms.

Rahul will reach Jiribam relief camp at 10.45. At 3 pm, he will go to Mandap Tuibong relief camp in Churachandpur. At 4 pm, he will reach Phubala camp in Moirang. After this, he will meet the Governor at Raj Bhavan at 5.30 pm. He will talk to the media at 6.15 pm at the state Congress office regarding the entire day’s events.
