Anurag Singh Thakur announces setting up of Film Certification Facilitation Office in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur today announced the establishment of a Regional Facilitation Office of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Chandigarh with the aim of promoting ease of doing business for film producers in the region.

Announcing this at the closing ceremony of the Chitra Bharati Film Festival in Chandigarh today, Mr. Thakur said that filmmakers from the region will be able to screen their films without the need to travel to Delhi or Mumbai to obtain CBFC certificates for their films. He said that this step will further strengthen the Punjabi film industry.

He added, “Today, India is seen as a content hub and we are becoming the preferred country for both shooting and post-production of international films. At the same time, our own content is receiving a lot of appreciation worldwide. “

Stating that more than half of the 2,500 films produced in the world every year are made on Indian soil, the minister said, “From feature films to documentaries and short films to serials, Indian cinema today is part of every aspect of life. Capturing color on his canvas and making local stories global. So it doesn’t matter in which language the film is being made, as long as the content is interesting, there will always be takers.”

Mr. Thakur added “I strongly believe that films made in the Punjab region also have great potential. Therefore, the government has decided to set up a CBFC facility office in Chandigarh so that the process of obtaining the certificate is easy and The process of completing the films should also be speeded up.”
