New Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea was heard in Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. Delhi CM has sought an extension of 7 days in the bail on medical grounds. On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed his appeal in the court for an extension in bail.
ED, while arguing in the bench of Special Judge Kaveri Baveja, claimed that Kejriwal has suppressed facts and made false statements about his health.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that Kejriwal also made a misleading claim in a press conference on May 31 that he was going to surrender on June 2.
However, Kejriwal’s lawyer said in court that he is ill and needs treatment. However, the court said that the next hearing on the bail plea will be on June 5.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21. The Supreme Court granted him interim bail on May 10, which expires on June 1. He will have to surrender on June 2.
