Ayodhya gears up for Deepotsav with over 2.5 million diyas to set world record

Ayodhya is fully prepared for its magnificent Deepotsav celebration, aiming to illuminate 2.5 million diyas to achieve a world record. Diyas have been distributed across all 55 ghats along the holy ‘Ram Ki Paidi’, where volunteers are arranging them in elaborate patterns.

Each ghat will feature rows of diyas arranged in a 16×16 grid, totaling 256 diyas per section. More than 30,000 volunteers from Awadh University, its 36 affiliated colleges, and local non-profit organizations are actively involved in this initiative. Over the next two days, they plan to set up 2.8 million diyas, with a goal of lighting at least 2.5 million to establish a new world record.

This year’s Deepavali will be particularly special as it is the first celebration with Lord Ram in the newly consecrated Ram Temple. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath envisions this year’s Deepotsav as a spectacular event, reminiscent of the divine welcome in Treta Yuga.

Local resident Harshit Kumar expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’ve joined this diya lighting effort for three years. This year, we’re decorating four ghats with about 60,000 diyas. I am thankful to CM Yogi for organizing this event so beautifully; it’s an honor to be involved.”

First-time volunteer Aditya shared his excitement about participating, stating, “We arrived this morning (Sunday), and it’s exhilarating to take part in the Deepotsav. Lighting diyas here is a unique experience.”

Alongside the diya lighting, a stunning drone show is planned for Diwali, adding more splendor to Ayodhya’s Deepotsav, which has turned into a global symbol of joy and devotion.
