Ban on Kedarnath helicopter service: Decision taken amid rising tension between India and Pakistan

Dehradun, May 10: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the helicopter service in Kedarnath has been suspended till further orders. The helicopter bookings made by the passengers are also being cancelled. The state government has taken this decision keeping in view the security standards.

Actually, helicopter service is provided to devotees from Guptkashi, Sirsi and Phata for Kedarnath Dham. But due to the war situation between India and Pakistan, helicopter service has been stopped for the time being.

The number of passengers decreased in Chardham Yatra

This has not only affected the helicopter service, but the number of passengers on the Char Dham Yatra has also reduced considerably. People have started cancelling advance bookings of hotels at the main stops of Yamunotri, Gangotri and Badrinath-Kedarnath Dhams.

Many hotels at the travel stop are cancelling bookings for the months of May and June, which has increased the worry of hoteliers. Many people have taken hotels on lease for a year for lakhs of rupees. Due to which their worries are increasing even more.

The tourism season was also affected

On the other hand, this is also affecting tourism in Uttarakhand. People are cancelling bookings at many tourist places including Mussoorie-Dhanolti, Lansdowne, Chakrata and Harshil. In Mussoorie, more than 30 percent of people have cancelled advance bookings in the last 24 hours.

Despite it being a weekend, the tourism season has been affected by 50 percent. Tourists from many states including Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, who were coming to Mussoorie, have cancelled their trip. Due to which people doing tourism business are worried.
