Bharatpur, June 29: While laying the pipeline of the Chambal Project in Bharatpur, 10 people of the same family got buried under the soil when it collapsed. 3 women and a young man died in the accident. Whereas, 2 people are seriously injured.
The accident took place in Ghanouli police station area on Sunday morning at around 8.30 am. Police station officer Vijay Singh said that digging is being done for the pipeline near Jangi’s Nagla.
10 people from Fatehpur Sikri (UP) had come to collect the soil taken out from here. All of them are residents of Uttu village. The accident happened while collecting the soil.
He had landed in a pit about 10 feet deep
According to the information, about 10 feet of excavation has been done on the site. All these people had descended into this pit. During this time, tons of soil collapsed and fell on them.
The district administration and villagers who reached the spot after getting information about the accident pulled out 6 people buried under the soil. Out of these, 3 people died on the spot. A woman died in the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Anukul (22), Yogesh Kumari (25), Vinod Devi (55) and Vimla Devi (45). Dinesh (38), son of Nahar Singh, and Jayshree (50), wife of Vijendra, were injured.
Treatment of 2 people is still going on- District Collector
Collector Qamar-ul-Zaman said that 6 people were rescued from the accident site. Out of these, 4 people were taken to a private hospital by their family members on the way.
Two were declared dead at RBM Hospital. According to the information received so far, a total of 4 people have died. Treatment of two is ongoing.
