BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay dismisses AAP's allegations accuses party of diverting attention

New Delhi: A political controversy has erupted in Delhi involving Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, with BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay rejecting the AAP’s accusations of disrespect. Upadhyay accused AAP of using the issue to divert attention from corruption charges and visited Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, drawing attention to the damaged statue of the freedom fighter.

Speaking to ANI, Upadhyay pointed out that the statue of Bhagat Singh had been broken for three years, despite AAP MLA Somnath Bharti serving in the area for the last decade without addressing the issue. He criticized the AAP for pretending to care about Bhagat Singh’s legacy and claimed that if they had genuinely cared, the park’s condition would have been better. He instructed officials to repair the statue soon, emphasizing that the BJP respects Bhagat Singh and focuses on action, not politics.

On the other hand, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari accused AAP of misleading the public, alleging that the party had “decided to spread lies.” He also criticized AAP for previously displaying portraits of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alongside those of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh, calling it an insult to their legacies. This comes amid ongoing tensions between BJP and AAP, with the latter accusing the BJP of undermining Ambedkar’s legacy by replacing his portraits with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in key government offices.
