CBI book four including three senior officers of Western Railways on graft charge

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption involving three senior officers of the Western Railways, including a senior officer from the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS). The individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) are Ankush Wasan, the Divisional Personnel Officer (IRPS: 2018) based in Vadodara; Sanjay Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager at Churchgate in Mumbai; Neeraj Sinha, Deputy Station Superintendent; and Mukesh Meena, an individual connected with the case.

According to the FIR, on February 13, Ankush Wasan instructed Sanjay Tiwari to create a list of at least ten candidates willing to pay bribes for favorable consideration in an upcoming Limited Department Examination organized by the Western Railway. Wasan also told Tiwari to reach out to Mukesh Meena for information on potential candidates for collecting bribes, with Meena indicating that he had already secured bribes from five individuals.

Further investigation revealed that on February 17, after a meeting at Tiwari’s home, he contacted Rajendra Ladla, the owner of Dhanraj Jewellers in Vadodara, inquiring whether it would be possible for a friend to buy approximately 400 grams of gold for cash without an invoice. Ladla confirmed that such a transaction could occur. On February 18, Sanjay Tiwari met with Mukesh Meena in Anand, Gujarat, where he received cash intended to fraudulently facilitate the selection of five candidates represented by Meena. Subsequent raids were carried out at the residences and offices of the accused.
