A CRPF trooper who was injured in a road accident in Budgam district, Jammu & Kashmir, has died from his injuries after being hospitalized.

On Friday, nineteen CRPF personnel from the 181-F company were hurt when their vehicle lost control and skidded off the road. A rescue team promptly arrived at the scene to transport the injured troopers to a hospital in Chrar-e-Sharief. Nine of the injured were later referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for further treatment. Unfortunately, one of the troopers succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, according to officials.

Senior officials from the paramilitary force visited the hospital to check on the injured personnel, while local police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Road accidents are common in the region, often attributed to reckless driving. On the same day, a separate incident on the Srinagar-Leh national highway resulted in one death and two injuries when a private car was struck by an oil tanker. Authorities reported that the car’s driver had attempted to overtake a line of slow-moving vehicles, leading to a head-on collision with the tanker. The tanker driver has been detained, and the two injured occupants of the car were treated and subsequently released from a local hospital. The deceased was seated in the front of the car at the time of the accident.
