Delhi airport operations smooth; some flights may be hit due to airspace limits

New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) reported today that operations are currently running smoothly. However, due to evolving airspace conditions and heightened security protocols, some flight schedules and security checkpoint processing times might be impacted.

Passengers are advised to stay updated through their airlines and the official Delhi Airport website, allow extra time for security checks, and follow regulations for hand baggage and check-in luggage.

“We strongly recommend relying only on official sources for accurate information. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and efficient journey,” DIAL stated.

The increased security measures prompted by the India-Pakistan tensions continue as a precaution. Although a ceasefire was announced Saturday, the government remains cautious about security threats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the three service chiefs and the Chief of Defence Staff on Sunday to assess the situation.

Air India has advised passengers across India to arrive at airports at least three hours before departure, in line with directives from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, to facilitate smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 minutes prior to departure.

Similarly, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport issued an advisory urging passengers to arrive early and carry valid government-issued photo IDs, passports, visas, and boarding passes ready for inspection.

Passengers are encouraged to pack smartly, adhere to security guidelines, and consult airline or airport websites to avoid prohibited items. Liquids are limited to 100ml containers in carry-on luggage, which should be placed in clear zip-lock bags, and electronic devices like laptops and tablets must be separately screened.

The airport has urged travelers to stay near their luggage, as unattended bags are treated as suspicious and could trigger emergency responses.

Passengers should monitor announcements via airport social media channels, display screens, airline apps, and websites to stay informed, and report any suspicious activity immediately to CISF officers or airport staff.
