New Delhi: Following the BJP’s victory in the Delhi assembly elections, party leader RP Singh criticized the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, claiming that Delhi has been “looted” over the past decade. Singh expressed hope that the new BJP government would establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate these issues. He stated, “Delhi has been looted in the last 10 years; they promised many things but delivered nothing. There was corruption in every department, from water board contracts to DTC. Shortcut politics will no longer work.”
Singh also targeted the Congress party, labeling it a “parasite” and asserting that the people of Delhi have completely rejected them.
Earlier, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, who made history by winning the New Delhi seat, paid tribute to his father, former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, in his hometown of Mundka. Verma received a warm welcome and visited the Dada Bhairav Temple to offer prayers. He honored his father at the Dr. Sahib Singh Verma Samadhi Sthal and committed to completing his father’s “unfinished works.”
Speaking to reporters, Verma said, “My father’s life inspires me. His unfinished projects are now my resolves. With the support of the people of Delhi, all MLAs will work to enhance the city in line with PM Modi’s vision.” He credited the BJP’s success to Prime Minister Modi, noting that the citizens of Delhi have placed their trust in him.
The BJP achieved a significant victory in the assembly elections, securing a two-thirds majority, while the AAP faced major losses, leading to a sharp decline in its representation in the 70-member assembly. The Congress party, which had hoped for a resurgence in Delhi, again failed to win any seats, marking a third consecutive election with a zero tally after ruling the capital for 15 years from 1998. The vote counting took place on Saturday, following polling on February 5.
