Doda: Two soldiers were injured in a terrorist attack in the jungles of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning. Army officials said that terrorists opened fire on a temporary security camp set up in a school in Jaddan Bata village of Kastigarh area late on Wednesday night.
Firing took place between security forces and terrorists for more than an hour. The terrorists have been surrounded by the army. They are firing intermittently to drive them out. A search operation is on to find out the terrorists.
On July 15, 5 soldiers including an army captain and a policeman were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Doda itself. On July 16, firing took place again at 10:45 pm in Kalan Bhata of Desa Forest Belt of Doda and at 2 am in Panchan Bhata area. After these incidents, the army had set up a temporary security camp in the government school of Jaddan Bata village to conduct search operations.
Doda district was declared terrorism free in 2005. 5 soldiers were martyred and 9 security personnel were injured in the continuous attacks since June 12 while three terrorists were killed by army personnel.
After the martyrdom of 12 soldiers in 10 terrorist attacks in the last 84 days in Jammu region, the army has now started the biggest search operation. According to military sources, 7000 soldiers of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, 8 drones, helicopters, about 40 search dogs have been deployed in the operation.
Most of the soldiers are National Rifles and Special Commandos of the Police. They have been landed in the forests of Pir Panjal range of Doda and Kathua districts. 5 locations have been identified here. Security forces have got clues of the presence of about 24 terrorists here. These include those terrorists who had an encounter with the army in Desa forest of Doda. 5 soldiers were martyred in this.
