Fire breaks out at firecracker shop in Hyderabad

A significant fire erupted at a firecracker shop in the Abids area of Hyderabad on Sunday night. Fortunately, there were no reports of fatalities, although a woman sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to a hospital.

The blaze, which originated from the Paras Fireworks store located at Boggalakunta, was tackled by three fire engines and spread to a neighboring hotel, resulting in the destruction of at least ten two-wheelers.

According to police, the incident occurred near the office of the endowment department, and the loud explosions from the ignited firecrackers created panic in the busy commercial area. Dramatic footage showed customers fleeing the shop, leading to a chaotic scene at the entrance as people scrambled to escape.

The situation escalated as firecrackers exploded with intense blasts, quickly engulfing the entire shop in flames. A transformer was also damaged in the fire spread.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and senior police and fire service officials have arrived at the scene to investigate.

This incident, which comes ahead of the Deepavali festival, raises concerns regarding the hazards posed by firecracker shops in densely populated urban areas. Similar events have occurred in the past, including a tragic fire in 2002 that claimed six lives in the Siddiamber Bazar area and another incident in 2010 in the Mahabubganj market that required extensive firefighting efforts, although no casualties were reported.
