Bengaluru: In two separate tragic accidents on Monday, five people lost their lives in Chitradurga district and Hosakote near Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The first incident involved a head-on collision between an Innova and a truck on the national highway near Kanive Anjaneya temple in Chitradurga. The crash happened in the morning and resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a woman. The car, which had an Andhra Pradesh registration, carried Sunita (34), Shyam (29), and Shivu (35). The victims were traveling from Chitradurga towards Holalkere when the accident occurred. The impact was so severe that the car was unrecognizable. Holalkere police arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to the mortuary. Initial suspicion points to overspeeding as a possible cause, but the investigation is ongoing.
In a second incident early morning in Chikkahullur village in Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, two people died and another was critically injured following a collision involving a tempo and a two-wheeler. The identities of the deceased are not yet known. The police stated that the tempo, which was speeding, hit the motorcycle carrying three riders. Two riders died instantly, and the third was seriously hurt and transported to a private hospital; his condition remains critical. The tempo driver fled, prompting police to launch a search. Police suspect negligent driving and overspeeding caused the crash, and investigations are ongoing.
Previously, on May 8, two separate accidents in Karnataka’s Haveri and Bagalkot districts resulted in the deaths of nine people, including three minors, with one person in critical condition. The first incident involved a car hitting a truck in Haveri, killing six and critically injuring one.
