Four of a family from UP killed in road accident in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Four members of a family from Uttar Pradesh—two teenagers and two women—were killed in a tragic road accident near Bhatkheri village in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district.

The incident involved a sports utility vehicle that collided with a highway divider, resulting in four deaths and three others sustaining critical injuries.

All the victims were traveling together from Ayodhya to Surat after a pilgrimage. The accident happened early Thursday morning. Police believe the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel while passing through Rajgarh, causing the SUV with registration number GJ05JN7029 to crash into a culvert divider.

Among the injured were the driver, identified as Bholaram from Bhawanipur in Ayodhya district. The impact was devastating, killing 16-year-old Anmol Dubey, son of Bholenath Dubey, and 14-year-old Priyanshu Pandey, son of Rambabu Pandey, instantly.

Two other family members succumbed to their injuries at Shajapur District Hospital. They were Pramila, 45, wife of Ramesh Dubey, and Shivdevi, 50, wife of Diwakar Tiwari.

The injured victims include Pustam Dubey, 50, wife of Bholenath Dubey, and 13-year-old Anshika Dubey, Bholenath’s daughter. They initially received treatment at Pachor Hospital and were later referred to Rajgarh District Hospital. Their condition remains critical but stable, according to police officer Ramesh Kumar.

The family was traveling in two vehicles from Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. They had stopped at a roadside dhaba after the driver reportedly felt drowsy, and the accident occurred about an hour later.

An ambulance driver, Yagnesh Bhai Rawal, was heading toward Ahmedabad and noticed smoke coming from the wreckage. He stopped to assist, along with nearby truck drivers, breaking open the vehicle doors to rescue the injured and recover the deceased. Local police arrived soon after to manage the emergency response. An investigation into the mishap has been launched.
