Major setback to Congress : Jharkhand MP Geeta Koda Joins BJP

Congress suffered a major setback in Jharkhand on Monday. The party’s sole MP Geeta Koda has joined BJP. Geeta Koda joined BJP in the presence of Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi and Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri. Geeta Koda is the wife of former Chief Minister of the state Madhu Koda. Geeta Koda is MP from Singhbhum.

After joining BJP, MP Geeta Koda said, “Congress party says that it will take everyone along, but it takes only its family along. One should stay where public interest is. Public interest is being ignored in Congress. So it was not appropriate for me to stay there. I left Congress and joined BJP. I will stay here and work for the public interest.” Geeta Koda said that Congress does appeasement politics. She used to feel suffocated there.

Whereas in the Jharkhand Assembly elections held in 2009, Geeta Koda had won by a margin of 25 thousand votes. At that time, she also held the record of being the youngest MLA of Jharkhand. Geeta Koda was 25 years old at that time. Geeta Koda joined Congress in the year 2018.

Geeta Koda is the first MP from Singhbhum to reach the Lok Sabha. He defeated NDA candidate and then BJP state president Laxman Giluva in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Earlier in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Laxman Giluva had defeated Geeta Koda.
