New Delhi: In a shocking news, 68-year-old Anil Katiyal resident of Delhi’s Greater Kailash was arrested for impersonating as retired IPS officer. Anil Katiyal, along with his associate Vinod Kapoor, attempted to influence police officers in a cheating case registered against Kapoor in Ghaziabad. Katiyal made many phone calls exerting pressure on the official so that the proceeding against his friend could be dropped.
Katiyal claimed as 1979-batch IPS officer. He also said that he has top connections with bureaucrats. Katiyal even pretended as an advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Using his fake credentials and identification, he met senior police officials to convince them to support his friend Kapoor and end the ongoing proceedings. He even posed as an Intelligence Bureau officer and pretended to have relations with top bureaucrats. He tried to influence the Ghaziabad police by accusing them that a false case had been registered against his friend Vinod Kapoor.
Anil Katiyal, who impersonated as retired IPS officer actually had worked as a senior official at Vodafone. Anil’s father worked as an IRS officer and thus he got acquainted with top officials and other big names.
Katiyal’s 69-year-old friend Vinod Kapoor is accused in a fraud case. In an attempt to secure his friend, he called up PRO Neeraj Rathore on November 14 and tried to pursuade that the case registered against Vinod Kapoor was fake. Not just influenced, Katiyal later threatened the officials of Ghaziabad Police which made officials suspicious about his identity.
