Goa CM Pramod Sawant Flags Off Train to Prayagraj for MahaKumbh Mela

Karmali: Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated a special train service from Karmali Railway Station to Prayagraj for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. This initiative is part of the Goa government’s efforts to support pilgrims traveling to the religious festival.

“I have flagged off a train to Prayagraj on behalf of the government of Goa. I congratulate all the devotees,” Sawant stated. He also mentioned that two more trains are scheduled to depart on February 13 and February 21, adding, “If more people wish to travel, we will make arrangements for them as well.”

The Chief Minister praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the preparations made for the event, saying, “I congratulate UP CM Yogi Adityanath for the arrangements for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.” Sawant further acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking a holy dip in the Ganges during his visit to Prayagraj, stating, “Yesterday, PM Modi took a holy dip, and I congratulate him for that as well.”

The Maha Kumbh 2025 has seen an enormous turnout, with over 389.7 million devotees participating in the sacred Triveni Sangam since the festival began. The event has been recognized as a significant spiritual and cultural celebration, with pilgrims worldwide commending the arrangements made by the authorities.

As of today, more than 3.79 million devotees have taken a holy dip at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj by 8 am. Officials report that over 1 million Kalpwasis are currently staying at the Mela site, with the total number of pilgrims reaching 2.79 million so far today.

Devotees have expressed their appreciation for the efficient management of the festival, which has facilitated a serene experience for taking a dip in the Ganges. The arrangements for security, sanitation, and amenities have received praise from attendees. One devotee who recently returned from the gathering shared, “I just came back from the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, and I was impressed by the exceptional arrangements despite the large crowds. Taking a holy dip in the Ganges was a surreal experience, and I felt blessed. The organizers have done a commendable job managing the vast number of devotees. Jai Ganga Bhaiya!”
