"Good beginning": Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on 'Mahila Maha Jan Sunwai' camp

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside Vijaya K Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), launched the five-day ‘Mahila Maha Jan Sunwai’ camp, an initiative by the NCW aimed at providing swift resolution to women’s pending grievances.

Gupta appreciated the NCW for organizing the camp and highlighted the significance of delivering justice to women in distress. Addressing the media, she said, “This is a promising start. The Women’s Commission has set up a five-day camp here to ensure quick action on all unresolved cases involving women in Delhi. The entire team, along with the NCW President, is present. I strongly believe that all women who are unhappy or facing difficulties should receive justice promptly. We are also considering the formation of a dedicated Women’s Commission to ensure better support and hearing for women.”

In a related development, Gupta also launched the MedLEaPR (Medico-Legal Examination and Postmortem Reporting) at the Secretariat, describing it as a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness and credibility of India’s criminal justice system. She explained that the initiative was introduced in response to three new criminal laws enacted by the Central Government, which aim to modernize and reform the justice framework.

Gupta stated, “The new laws aim to overhaul the system, and with MedLEaPR, we hope to reduce delays, eliminate loopholes, and improve coordination within the justice process. This will lead to increased efficiency and help address past issues of discrepancies and doubts in criminal examinations and postmortem reporting.”
