Heavy rain lashes UP: Rain alert in 13 districts; 16% more rain so far

Varanasi, June 26: Monsoon is raining heavily in UP. Varanasi, Kanpur received heavy rain on Thursday afternoon. In Saharanpur, the mountainous Saharsa river got flooded due to rain. Water is flowing fast over the bridge. A tractor got stuck while crossing the river. People rescued and took out three people riding on the tractor safely.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 13 districts today. During this time, winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 km per hour. Similar weather will prevail for the next 4 days.

In the last 24 hours, 43 cities received an average of 3 mm of rain. Whereas the rainfall should have been 4.6 mm. This is 35% less than the estimate. Since June 1, 72.9 mm of rain has been received. Which is 16 per cent more than the normal 62.8 mm.

Mock drill was conducted at 3 places in Kanpur to prevent floods

Preparations to deal with floods have begun in full swing in Kanpur. Although the water level of Ganga is normal right now, the district administration conducted a mock drill at 3 places on Thursday to know what precautions will have to be taken in case of a flood.

Various aspects of disaster management were drilled including rescue of a drowning person, evacuation of flood affected villages and preparedness for relief operations.

ADM Finance Vivek Chaturvedi said – Teams are being prepared to make people living in low-lying areas aware and to deploy them in flood-affected areas. Also, boats, ropes, life jackets and other equipment are being provided.

The water level of Ganga is rising rapidly in Prayagraj

Although the effect of monsoon rain is not visible in Prayagraj, the water level of Ganga is continuously increasing here due to rain in the surrounding districts. According to the data released by the administration, an increase in the water level of Ganga was recorded on Thursday. The water level in Phaphamau increased by 16 cm. If we talk about the danger level, it is 75.89 meters.
