Sensing the danger of rain, Himachal government imposed ban on adventurous sports in Monsoon Season

Sensing the danger of rain, Himachal government has been imposed a ban on adventurous sports like Paragliding, Swimming, River Rafting, Rock Climbing etc. from 15th July to 15th September.

Himachal Pradesh government have been completely banned the adventure activities. As per the government order, paragliding, river rafting, water sports and various adventure activities will not be allowed from July 15.

People from not only the country but also abroad reach the mountains for these adventure activities. But the risk increases manifold during the rainy season in the mountains. There is always a fear of losing the way due to land slides and fog. Similarly, the water level in the rivers increases manifold during the rainy season. In such a situation, river rafting cannot be allowed.

In view of this, the government has banned it for the next 2 months i.e. till September 15. Along with the ban on adventure activities, the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department has given instructions to keep an eye on those doing paragliding, river rafting, water sports and trekking secretly.


Deputy Director Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Mandi Manoj Kumar said that adventure activities have been banned under the Tourism Development and Registration Act, 2002. No one will be allowed to do these kind of activities during this period, as doing so can be risky.

He said that if any person is found indulged in organizing illegal and unauthorized adventure activities, strict action will be taken against them as per the provisions of the law.
