Hockey Olympian Varun Kumar booked for allegedly raping minor

A case has been registered against Indian hockey player Olympian Varun under the POCSO Act for raping a minor girl. This case has been filed against Varun by a minor girl in Bengaluru. She has alleged that Varun trapped her through social media and raped her for 5 years.

To nab the hockey Olympian, police from Bengaluru have started raids in Punjab and neighbouring state Himachal. But till now the hockey player has not been caught by the police. However, Punjab Police officials are avoiding saying anything in Varun’s case.

Varun became DSP 2 days ago

Indian hockey team player Varun, who won a bronze medal in the Olympics and has been accused of rape, was given the post of DSP in Punjab Police by giving him an appointment letter by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a program two days ago. He had not even joined the department yet and Bengaluru Police has started searching for him.

A case has been registered against Varun in Bengaluru under various sections including the POCSO Act. According to sources, the Bengaluru Police team has reached Punjab and Himachal to conduct raids in this case.

Varun Kumar won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics

The then government of Himachal had also announced to give the post of DSP in Himachal Police to Varun, a player of the hockey team that won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Jairam government of Himachal had definitely given one crore rupees to Varun as Prize money for winning medal in Tokyo Olympics.
