Jabalpur: Two coaches of Overnight Express derail, no casualties reported

Jabalpur: Two coaches of Indore to Jabalpur overnight express (22191) derailed near Jabalpur railway station on Saturday morning. These include one parcel and one AC coach. Fortunately, there is no news of any loss of life or property in the incident.

The accident happened when the train was reaching platform number 6 and was nearly about 150 meters away. Its speed was 20 kilometers per hour. Work is going on to bring the derailed coach back on track. Due to this, the up track has been disrupted. There were 10 to 12 coaches in the train.

As soon as the information was received, General Manager of West Central Railway (WCR) Shobhana Bandopadhyay reached the spot. She has ordered an inquiry into the accident.

Harshit Shrivastava, the Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway, said, all the passengers are safe since the train was at dead-stop speed.

“The train was coming from Indore. When it was heading towards Jabalpur railway station’s platform number 6, the train was moving slowly, was at dead stop speed, and two coaches derailed. All passengers are safe since the train was at dead-stop speed. Everyone has left for home also. The incident took place around 5.50 am. It derailed around 150 metres from the platform,” he said.

However, the reason for the train’s derailment is not clear yet. More details are awaited.
