New Delhi: BJP MP Ravi Kishan has expressed strong confidence in the party’s chances of winning the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, particularly highlighting BJP candidate Shikha Rai’s prospects in the Greater Kailash Assembly constituency. In a statement, Kishan remarked, “The broom is leaving, and Modi ji is arriving,” indicating the party’s optimism as the elections approach.

In the Greater Kailash race, Shikha Rai faces a tough competition against AAP’s incumbent MLA and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with Congress candidate Garvit Singhvi.

On a significant note, seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have resigned from the party just a week before the elections. The resigning MLAs include Rohit Maharoliya (Trilokpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Bhavna Gaud (Palam), Bhupender Singh June (Bijwasan), and Pawan Kumar Sharma (Adarsh Nagar).

Rohit Kumar Mehraulia, from Trilokpuri, stepped down from all his posts and the primary membership of AAP, citing unmet commitments to uplift the Dalit/Valmiki community. Similarly, Madan Lal and Bhavna Gaud expressed they had “lost faith” in AAP and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Rajesh Rishi accused the party of straying from its founding principles of corruption-free governance, while Pawan Kumar Sharma lamented the party’s drift from its original honest ideology. Bhupender Singh June reported a “significant deviation” from the party’s core values as his reason for resigning.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
